Eight years ago Bradford Council served a formal enforcement notice to try to prevent the removal of valuable stone and the dumping of tonnes of construction waste in the former reservoir site on Baildon Moor. After consistent pressure from Conservative ward councillors legal proceedings were eventually brought and the offender was ordered to pay over £11,400.
Councillor Mike Pollard said, “it has been a long process but we are pleased there are now some draft plans to transform the site into a wetland habitat. The challenge now is funding this scheme.”
Councillor Debbie Davies said, “It was useful to explore the site at first-hand on a recent organised visit but the sheer size and scale of the destruction is daunting.”
