Today, the Prime Minister and Education Secretary will meet with Vice Chancellors from some of the country’s leading universities, calling on them to end the rise in antisemitic abuse on campus and disruption to students’ learning.
- Since the horrific attacks of 7 October antisemitism has risen in the UK and we saw a 203 per cent increase in university-related antisemitic incidents between 2022 and 2023. That is why the Prime Minister will meet with Vice Chancellors from leading universities today, making it clear they must take immediate disciplinary action against racial hatred or violence – and contact the police where they believe a criminal act has been committed as part of our plan to protect Jewish students from antisemitism on campus.
- Racial hatred and violence has no place in UK universities and we are committed to our plan to tackle antisemitism across the UK as we work to protect our Jewish communities.
