Delivering promises. Not just talking the talk about healthcare.
Claims have been made elsewhere about the doctor’s surgery, but here’s the real story.
Conservative Councillor Bob Felstead first started working with Dr Rayment on the proposal to expand the doctors surgery in August 2022. Bob then initiated a petition that attracted 2,000 signatures. Notably, neither Anna Dixon (Labour MP candidate) or Labour Councillor Chris Steele signed the petition.
In October 2022 discussions then took place with Bradford Council’s CEO, the NHS, ICB, Dr Rayment and Bob alone. At that meeting it was agreed that the surgery should receive Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding provided by housing developers. The funding proposal was then ratified by the Council Executive in July 2023.
Last December, there was another issue, the Council didn’t want to release CIL until the extension to the surgery was complete. That would have meant that the extension at the surgery couldn’t happen.
Bob again stepped in and later that month, Philip Davies MP and Bob had a meeting with the Council to force CIL funding to be paid up front, so that work on the surgery could commence.
At the 24 January 2024 Community Leaders Group meeting in Burley, Dr Rayment stated that the surgery expansion would not have been possible without the help and work of Bob Felstead over the last 18 months.
