Philip enjoyed a visit to vitreous enamelling company Trico and neighbouring Swanglen Metal Products Ltd at Castlefields Mill, Crossflatts.
Trico supply signage, cooking and health equipment along with panelling to a range of suppliers in the UK and abroad. Swanglen Metal offers Laser Cutting, Press Brake, Tube Bend and Powder Coating. They employ 50 people in Bingley across the two businesses.
Sir Philip met with chairman Keith Dunk and toured the facilities before having private discussions on issues facing the business.
Sir Philip said: “I thoroughly enjoyed my tour and hearing all about the businesses. Trico is the only such manufacturer in the UK and I am proud that they are in the Shipley constituency.
“They do fantastic work and it was great to hear about the opportunities they offer to young people who are trained up through an apprenticeship scheme, to ensure they continually have a highly skilled workforce.
“A number of issues were raised at the meeting and I have followed these up with ministerial colleagues as well as writing to various organisations. I am committed to supporting our local businesses and will do everything I can to help them and make sure they continue to thrive.”
