The Local Government Boundary Commissioners have published their final recommendations for new district council ward boundaries.
Significant changes have been recommended to the ward boundaries in the Bingley area. Two new wards Bingley West and Bingley East will replace the existing Bingley Rural and Bingley wards.
It is proposed that the new Bingley West Ward would include Bingley Town Centre and the roads near Bingley Grammar School, in addition to Cottingley, Cullingworth, Harden and Wilsden.
Denholme will move into neighbouring Worth Valley. District Council ward but will still remain part of the Shipley Parliamentary Constituency.
Bingley East will include the rest of the existing Bingley Ward, all of Eldwick and the roads off Bradford Road and those near Myrtle Park area.
Councillor Geoff Winnard said:
“ These proposals are a good outcome for the Bingley area. Local residents in Cottingley and Eldwick as well as Bingley Town Council campaigned strongly to ensure that their villages were kept in one of the Bingley wards."
The changes become law once Parliament has approved them. These changes are due to take effect for the next Bradford Council elections in May 2026.
