Today the Conservative Government is introducing legislation to protect future generations from the harmful impacts of smoking, sticking to the plan to build a better future for our children.
- Smoking is the UK’s biggest preventable killer and costs the NHS and the economy an estimated £17 billion a year. The Tobacco and Vapes Bill being introduced today will ensure children turning 15 this year or younger will never legally be able to buy tobacco. The bill will also introduce new powers to restrict vape flavours and packaging marketed to children.
- The legislation being introduced will help create a smoke-free generation, which will help the UK level up, save the taxpayer significant amounts of money, and push ahead our plans to create a better future for our children.
