Today we announced that domestic abusers who kill through sexual violence will spend longer behind bars than ever before, as we continue to take bold action to punish those who commit abuse against women.
- Conservatives are committed to better supporting victims and ensuring domestic abusers face the full force of the law. That is why we are bringing in a new statutory aggravating factor for offenders who cause death through abusive, degrading or dangerous sexual behaviour, so violent sexual criminals are locked behind bars for longer.
- Conservatives have made significant improvements in the justice system with adult rape prosecutions approaching the highest levels seen in the last decade – but we must stick to the plan under Rishi Sunak to strengthen victims’ rights and ensure violent killers face the full force of the law.
